3. Motion adaptive noise reduction

There are numerous techniques established for the reduction of noise in a video signal. Depending on the type of noise, the most effective of these usually involve adding frames together to improve the signal to noise ratio.

Adding frames works very well on static content, but any movement will blur’ or ‘smear’.

Motion adaptive noise reduction will analyse the video content for movement and ‘adapt’ the addition algorithms according to the movement so that blurring is reduced.

Converse technology uses a highly advanced motion adaption process that detects the degree of motion on a pixel by pixel basis and applies this linearly to the image processing.

The result is that static sections of the image receive maximum noise reduction, and moving objects within the same image are optimally noise reduced to avoid blurring.
