Handheld Image Processor (HIP)

Converse Technology’s HIP is a multifunction image processing and enhancement platform capable of many real-time applications within a single pocket sized and rugged unit.

The unit is very low power (up to 8 hours when using internal AA cells) and is designed for extreme environments.

HIP is available with or without an integrated high resolution display and a range of rugged miniature housings for handheld, pocket, belt or fixed mounting applications.

HIP Platform Key Features

  • Multi function image processor for real-time video applications in the field
  • Rugged, environmentally sealed and very low power
  • Affordable and compact technology with flexible and highly advanced capabilities
  • Several ‘off the shelf’ image processing and enhancement applications available
  • Fast-track project turnaround service for custom applications
  • Can process several input sources for multi-view, PIP, image overlay, blending etc.
  • Processed video and alarm outputs for external connection

Typical HIP applications

  • Video Integration (VI). The VI reveals detail hidden in dark and/or noisy areas of an image. Extends the dynamic range of cameras (or any source) in low light conditions.
  • Video Standards Conversion (converts between PAL / NTSC / Secam etc.)
  • Up-conversion (converts standard definition video to high definition formats)
  • Motion adaptive noise reduction
  • Judder removal / image stabilisation
  • Motion / change detection within image (various alarm outputs).
  • Digital zoom and general purpose video monitoring
  • Multiple source video processing (e.g. multi-view, PIP, image overlay, blending etc.)
  • Various forms of image analysis, TSG and information graphics overlay
